What We Believe

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old & New Testament, is the divinely inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God and is the supreme, final authority on all matters on which it speaks. (2 Timothy 3:14-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

GOD

We believe that there is but one living & true God, Holy, eternal, infinite, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, perfectly and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son & Holy Spirit – each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, and coequal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections, and equally deserving the same worship, homage, confidence and obedience (John 1:14; Acts 5:3-4; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 1:4-6).

    1. God our Father
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven & earth, all things visible & invisible who sovereignly governs the heavens, earth, things seen & unseen according to His own purpose & grace.
    2. Jesus our Savior
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ, the living Word, became flesh and accomplished our redemption through the shedding of His blood & sacrificial death on the cross & that His death was voluntary, vicarious, substitutionary, propitiatory, & redemptive.
    3. Holy Spirit our Comforter
We believe the Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ. He convicts us of sin & draws us to the Savior. He instructs, guides us into all truth, & seals us for the day of redemption.
SIN

We believe that man was originally created in the image of God. Sin is a condition of humanity, which separates unholy humankind from a holy God;
The sinful condition relegates mankind to separation from God & eternal damnation. (Gen.1:26, Gen. 3:6, Rom. 3:23)

SALVATION

We believe we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ: His death, burial & resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human effort. (Rom. 10:9-10, Acts 16:31, Gal. 2:16)

CHRISTIAN LIVING

We believe that as a new creation in Christ, the believer is instructed to forget those things which are behind & focus on what is ahead.

The believer is admonished to live a life that is yielded to the Holy Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control should characterize this life. (2 Cor. 5:17, Phil.3:13, Gal. 5:22-25)

TRUE CHURCH

We believe the true church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ & the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ.

Expressed in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity & the ordinances are practiced in their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, & where loving fellowship is maintained. (Matt. 16:16-19, Eph. 4:11-16, Titus 2:1-10, Matt. 18)

THE ORDINANCES
    1. Water Baptism
We believe following the Lord in baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. Following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the new convert is encouraged to be baptized by immersion in water in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. ( Matt.28:19, Acts. 2:38,8:12)
    2. The Lord’s Supper
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a unique time of communion in the presence of God. The elements of bread and juice represent the body & blood of the Lord Jesus Christ & are taken in remembrance of His sacrifice on the cross. (Matt. 26:26-29, 1 Cor. 11:23-26)
